Our Story
Primal House began as a daydream. Alyssa Leal, having grown up watching her parents build successful businesses, imagined creating something that captured the authenticity and community spirit of a simpler time—the 1920s and 30s. When she shared this vision with longtime friend Bud Cole, a fourth-generation cattle rancher, something clicked. Together, they envisioned a place that would honor both their heritages while creating something entirely new for Paso Robles.
With the support of Alyssa's parents, Jimmy and Teresa Leal, Primal House and Primal Meat Company was born—a multifaceted culinary destination that brings together the best of old-world traditions and local bounty.

Primal Meat Company & Farmers Market
Our Old World butcher shop and indoor farmers market showcase the finest local producers and artisans Paso Robles has to offer. Here, quality and craftsmanship take center stage, with traditional butchery techniques and fresh, seasonal offerings available .
The Eatery
Our casual dining space offers farm-to-table comfort food that's both approachable and exceptional. Whether you're grabbing something on the go or sitting down for a relaxed meal, Executive Chef Drew Terp brings his world-class expertise to every dish.
Brewery & Taproom
Our in-house brewery features 10 craft beers that change with the seasons, each created through thoughtful collaboration with local farmers. Brewmaster Bret Stitzman crafts distinctive beers that complement our food and showcase the agricultural richness of the Central Coast.

Our versatile space is available for private gatherings, offering a unique setting for special occasions and celebrations.
Classes & Community

Bret Stitzman – Our Brewmaster began his journey at Mother Earth, developing award-winning skills that now shine in our collaborative, locally-inspired craft beers.
